Taking a more wacky approach, some Skyrim players add Thomas the Tank Engine to their game, whereas some will only use mods that are completely lore-friendly as if they were an expansion to the base experience. Players are able to change the game however they see fit, molding the gameplay into their ideal RPG experience. Mods are an enormous part of the reason Skyrim has had such longevity, remaining incredibly popular ever since its 2011 release. Mods are extremely popular with Skyrim players, including ones that change up the base game's fighting system, which is beginning to show its age.
